How You Can Help

About Us

Friends of Mount Claremont Fields is a community association comprising residents, Old Boys and current Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS) families who oppose a rezoning of the historic Mount Claremont playing fields and don’t believe this community amenity and precious green space should be sacrificed for housing lots.

Petitions

We are seeking community support for 3 petitions. The most important are 2 petitions to the WA State Parliament. Please download by clicking here. These petitions need to be in hardcopy original, so please collect as many supporting signatures as you can and return by mail to the address listed at the bottom of the petition. The first petition is to oppose a rezoning of the Mount Claremont playing fields. The second petition is to oppose the sale of the Brockway Road site to CCGS on the basis that this was not an open process and excluded other far more in-need groups like government schools, girl’s sport and community sporting associations. So far, we have over 3,000 signatures on these petitions and our target is 5,000.

Our third petition is at www.change.org. We have almost 5,000 signatures on this petition and our target is 10,000 – please add yours!

Donate

Friends of Mount Claremont Fields is an incorporated entity that is principally funded by financial pledges made by Mount Claremont residents who live on streets directly surrounding the playing fields. All funds received are deposited into a trust account overseen by a management committee that is subject to ASIC governance requirements. All members of Friends of Mount Claremont Fields are volunteers.

Funds raised will be applied to costs for establishing the association, communications infrastructure including website, expert consultants and advisers in areas of town planning, communications, environmental assessments, traffic studies & legal advice and advertising costs in print, social media and signage both to promote our cause and raise community awareness of what the CCGS Council is attempting and how it is behaving. If you are a Mount Claremont resident, either in the Town of Cambridge or Town of Nedlands, directly impacted by the loss of amenity and destruction of green space that the CCGS Council is seeking and would like to make a financial pledge please email us at fomcffunding@gmail.com. All contributions greatly appreciated.

If you are a community member who is more generally concerned at the behaviour of property developers like the CCGS Council, who seek to extract private windfall gains through rezoning at the expense of surrounding communities and ratepayers and would like to support our cause, please donate at our GoFundMe page here.
