Minister Rita Saffioti Says NO!

On 15 March 2023, the Minister for Planning, the Hon Rita Saffioti announced she would not be supporting a request to initiate a scheme amendment for the Mount Claremont Playing Fields.  In early 2022, the Town of Cambridge unanimously resolved to not initiate the proposed scheme amendment.  Under section 76 of the Planning and Development Act 2005, Christ Church Grammar School Council appealed the Town of Cambridge’s decision to Minister Saffioti.  In considering the section 76 appeal, Minister Saffioti determined there was not sufficient evidence and merit to support the scheme amendment.
